Smell the Book / A Fine Line Between Stupid and Clever

If you’ve ever turned your stereo up to 11, you will love this book. Actually, you’ll love both books as it is two in one. One chunk is A Fine Line Between Stupid and Clever, while the other chunk is Smell the Book.
A Fine Line Between Stupid and Clever is all about This is Spinal Tap, perhaps one of the greatest comedies ever made. There is page after page after page about how the film was made and how they were able to get it out there. It starts from the beginning of just the idea of Tap and concludes with how the cast and Rob Reiner (the guy who made the film) just about what would be on their tombstones.
Smell the Book is a series of interviews with the Spinal Tap guys and it is loaded with laughs. They discuss everything about the band you could possibly want to know. The interviews are fun to read and are an unexpected comedic treasure.
The book is loaded with photos as well so you’ll enjoy that, especially the photos of Spinal Tap’s early years.
While Spinal Tap 2 is mentioned, this is really more about the original film.
So, what is the verdict? A better than perfect 11/10. This book is a well-written light read that never bogs down. Each page is a pleasure and I’m certain you will enjoy it. I own hundreds of books like this and this is definitely one of the better comedy books in my vast collection.
