Golden Hour of Benny Hill

Golden Hour of Benny Hill – Okay first off, know that I am a fan of the old Benny Hill TV show and I also have a touch of OCD when it comes to comedy records. Pretty much I buy them if I can afford it and sometimes even when I can’t. So because of all of that, I bought this record for $10 AUD. So, was it worth it? That depends.

This record is a collection of lighthearted ditties that are fine to listen to as background music, which I’m doing right now, but sadly, I didn’t get even a teeny tiny guffaw from anything on it. Yes, there is humour here, but nothing sidesplitting. Truly, I cannot figure out what exactly was going on when they put it together because it just isn’t anything I’d expect from a Benny Hill record. It just isn’t very funny. 🙁

This record is really only for Benny Hill completists and comedy record collectors with OCD and an extra $10 to burn. Since I live in an apartment and need all the space I can get, I will likely trade this one in for store credit at my local used record shop. Bummer.

By the way, I hate hate hate hate publishing a less than stellar review on anything because I am quite aware of the damage it can do but in this case, well, you get the idea. I would say this: If you spot it in the bargain bin somewhere, grab it but do so with low expectations. Sorry, I wish I had better news.
