The Monty Python Instant Record Collection

Gotta tell you, I’m not the biggest Monty Python fan but this is a pretty good record. It is a compilation of gags from other Monty Python records and bits of movies. I think. That seems to be the case. So, with that in mind, let’s discuss the record a bit.

A lot of old comedy records like this are muddy and difficult to listen to. I don’t know if they are just dusty or if they just have crappy production values, but they really put me off old comedy records completely sometimes. My copy is in very good condition and the sound is crisp and clear. So that is good. Your copy may vary.

The content is somewhat surprising in that it is pretty good! Let’s face it, a lot of Monty Python stuff is pretty bad and difficult to consume. But this record transcends that and I could almost become a convert but it will take more than one record for that to happen. (I do like their movies, however.) I suppose I own 5 or 6 Monty Python records and we’ll get to those soon enough and perhaps I will change my mind about them. Perhaps they are just something of an acquired taste.
